Russia's brazen return to prominence on the world stage under Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev hasn't sat well with many in the international community -- including its West-leaning neighbors. Europe's dependence on Russian resources has also diminished Europe's influence to the Kremlin's hard-line policies.
